Your First Tip Split

What is a tip split? 


In the olden days, a tip split meant emptying your jar of cash tips at the end of the week and splitting them amongst the team. Our Tip Splits work exactly the same but without getting your hands grubbby!


How do I split the tips? 


1. From your Venue admin page, select "Tip Splits".



2. Select "Start New Split". 



3. Use the Tips Calculator to select the date range of tips you want to split. "Tips received from" indicates all tips collected from that date forward. "Tips received before" indicates all tips collected prior to this date (and not including that date).




Once you press "Calculate Tips" you should see the "Available" balance populate and the "Pending" balance should remain zero. If the"Pending" balance is not zero it means the team has tips that are yet to clear (which can take up to seven days). 


Never attempt to split pending tips. 


Always ensure Available and Total Tips Received are equal. 




4. Input the total hours worked by each team member for the period that you are splitting tips for. 


If you have lots of team members, you can use the search bar to find specific members or use the "AZ" button to sort them alphabetically. 



Once the hours are populated, click "Calculate Split". Pressing this will save the split as a draft but will not actually distribute anything yet so if you need to pause for some reason you'll be able to pick up where you left off. 



5. Confirm that all the details of the split match your expectations - Total Employees, Total Hours and Total amount. If not, adjust the period/hours as required and hit "Recalculate Split". 



Once you're happy to proceed, press "Split the tips". 



6. Check the information one last time and when happy click the drop down and select "Yes" and then press "Confirm". 



7. For security purposes you will be emailed a six digit code to confirm the split. If you do not receive the code make sure to check your spam/junk folder. The code is valid for seven days after which time the split will automatically be cancelled. Enter the code and click confirm. This is the final confirmation step and is irreversible - the money will be distributed as per the data entered. 





8. Congratulations! You've completed your first tip split. 



The split is now being processed by the system and the funds will be allocated to each team members Personal TiPJAR. Your team members don't need to do anything - they'll receive all the funds in their Personal TiPJAR automatically on the first Tuesday of each month and receive an email from us telling them what their share of the split is.


If they'd like the money sooner though they can manually Request a Payout as soon as they have cleared.
